ANNUAL SCHOOL CONCERT: WHERE TALENT TAKES FLIGHT

Who can forget Maria serenading the hills to life in the opening sequence of the musical, The Sound of Music? Or the scene, where the Von Trapp children overcome an unfounded fear of thunder one stormy night by singing about their Favourite Things? Or the play way method in which Mary Poppins uses song and dance to instil a sense of caring discipline among the impish Banks children – all of who learn to bond through dance, music and play; most importantly as a team!

Well, that’s the transformative power of music and teamwork, which lies at the core of our school’s value system.

Adamas International School hosted its Annual Concert for classes VI to XII on Saturday, 21st December 2024.

Over the past two decades, we, at Adamas International School, pride ourselves in creating an environment for our students to explore, learn and evolve into confident, well-rounded individuals, and our annual concert shines as one of the most-awaited events in the city.

True to our legacy, the recently concluded concert bear testament to what one can achieve through dedicated teamwork, perseverance and passion. Over 600 enthusiastic students and an equally committed team of teachers came together to gift to the city a musical extravaganza of sorts that will be remembered for years.

A Sneak Peek: Behind the Scenes

Our students and teachers worked tirelessly over many weeks to unfold an evening of sheer magic and brilliance.

It was heartening to see that the teachers of the performing arts section were joined in by the sports and academic teachers in every little way. Our Director, Mrs. Mallika Roy continued to encourage the team to push their boundaries and strive for perfection.

From deciding on the theme to developing the script, from composing songs to recording voice-overs, from designing backdrops to training students – Adamas International School was abuzz with fun, excitement and the rigour of regular rehearsals.

For weeks, the auditorium, assembly hall, vocal and instrumental music rooms, the art and dance rooms and computer labs witnessed a heady concoction of music, dance, drama and at times, the din of innumerable students, either practising or chatting or perhaps, pulling off a silly prank.

From props to costumes to stage set-up to sound and light – every detail was intricately looked into. All the props and art work were created by our very own students.

An Evening to Remember: The Power-packed Performances

The Adamas Euphony Ensemble:

A breath-taking 260-member school orchestra blended the beauty of Indian Ragas – Yaman Kalyan, Rageshri and Kalavati, with the grandeur of Western Classical, Waltz and Middle Eastern influences. It was beautifully complemented by the school choir. The orchestra comprised instruments like the violin, sitar, sarod, keyboard, steel and acoustic guitar alongside a rhythm section that boasts of the tabla, clapbox, kahon, drums, darbuka, triple congo and percussions.

Namami Gange – A Musical Dance Drama:

It portrayed the enchanting and enduring journey of India’s most sacred river, Ganga, through an innovative mix of Indian and Western dance forms alongside futuristic Robotic moves. Around 315 students came together to bring to life the river’s mythical origin, its dramatic descent, its impact on India’s civilization and finally culminated with a pledge to preserve the river’s eternal flow.

A Walk Down Memory Lane:

The students of class XII tugged at our hearts with an emotional audio-visual presentation, reliving their years at Adamas International School – a journey filled with laughter, friendships, and shared experiences, as they witnessed their last annual day programme.

The Spirit of Celebration

Cheers, laughter and an undeniable sense of pride filled the air as our parents, teachers and students revelled in the magic, while reaffirming in the belief of collaboration, creativity and lifelong learning.

Here’s to many more such evenings of art, culture and inspiration!
